Yabu: The House of Katsu - Chicken Katsudon Set

Unlimited Miso Soup, Japanese koshihikari rice, crisp & fresh organic sliced cabbage, and fresh fruits, that's the inclusion in this wonderful and authentic Japanese katsudon meal. This is Chicken Katsudon Set Meal from Yabu: The House of Katsu.

A tidbit of info, Katsudon is a popular Japanese dish, it's a combination of Tonkatsu (a breaded, deep-fried meat) and Donburi (a rice bowl dish).

Murakami Japanese Restaurant

Who doesn't love ramen, sushi, katsu and other Japanese food? Probably because of the ramen craze that hit the Philippines one or two years ago that made Pinoys love Japanese cuisine more than ever. Let's admit that Japanese food is one of the expensive foods here in the country. But, you don't need to throw away your money just to try authentic Japanese food. Murakami Japanese Restaurant offers affordable and delicious ramen, sushi, sashimi, and more! Like this beauty here, Murakami Kani Salad that cost only ₱110. It taste good, refreshing because of the cucumber, and the ingredients are fresh.

Masuki Mami House in Binondo

Masuki's Chicken Mami is consists of their homemade noodles topped white chicken meat slices, in chicken broth, and served with their special sauce and spring onions. This Chicken Mami costs 140. The taste is quite bland for me, not that flavorful and savory unless you add in their special sauce and spring onions. The special sauce is a bit sweet, salty, quite thick, and savory, it is perfect for all of their mami or noodle soup dishes as well as for their siopao.

Eduardo's Peri-peri Flame-grilled Chicken

I had heard about Peri-peri Chicken in the metro for a while now; however this is just my first time to try it. There are considerable number Peri peri chicken restaurants in Metro Manila, most of it are in Quezon City, but you can also find it in San Juan City, Mandaluyong City, Pasig City, and ParaƱaque City. What is a Peri-peri chicken? Based on what I researched, Piri piri or Peri peri is a type of chili which can be found in Africa and South American countries. The dish itself was said to originate in both Africa and Portugal, it's a very spicy dish, and chicken is marinated for many hours and then grilled.

Kung Pao Chicken Rice Bowl

Another delicious meal by Kentucky Fried Chicken. Kung Pao Chicken Rice Bowl, an Asian cuisine dish. This yummy food cost only ₱100.00 and comes with a regular soda drink, a perfect meal for lunch or dinner. The chicken itself is still crunchy, the KFC way of course, drizzled with sweet-chili spicy sauce, topped with fried garlic, corn kernels and spring onions. So guys I suggest if you haven't got anything for your dinner go ahead at any KFC branches near you and try this KFC Kung Pao Chicken and surely you'll like it.

KFC Double Down, The Zinger Way

Double Down Sandwich is a very unique and smart product of KFC. I remembered just this year 2011 that they launched this wonderful product in the Philippines, the Original Double Down Sandwich. Now they have a new twist of this bunless sandwich, KFC Zinger Double Down Sandwich, same thing with the Original but it's spicy hot and very crunchy. The Zinger Double Down Meal with a regular drink costs ₱150.00.

KFC Chicken BBQ Rods

When you say chicken... That means KFC!!! Kentucky Fried Chicken is the world's best-known chicken fast-food chain. It's my first time to taste KFC BBQ Rods, skewered crunchy boneless chicken pieces drizzled with very yummy sweet-savory barbecue sauce and served with java rice. The 2-stick meal with java rice and a regular drink which I had costs ₱85.00. KFC BBQ Rods is almost perfect, the chicken is still juicy even it's very crunchy outside and the BBQ sauce is amazing, however the chicken is a bit tasteless without the BBQ sauce. I wish they also seasoned the chicken before frying or served more BBQ sauce. But it's still good, still finger lickin' good!!!

Share your chicken barbecue experience with us.

My Birthday Lunch at Bonchon Chicken

Bonchon ChickenBonchon Chicken

Bonchon Chicken is a Korean-style fried chicken restaurant, it features wings and drumsticks fried slowly so the skin puffs very crispy while the meat remains moist and painted with hot & spicy or soy garlic glaze. It's a really nice birthday treat for me! Yum Yum Yum!!! I had Hot & Spicy 4-piece Wings with Rice for 145.00php while Adelbert ordered for Bulgogi Rice for 145.00php and Kimchi Coleslaw which is 45.00php. Chicken Wings is absolutely really crispy, you can't imagine how crispy it is and the meat is still moist and juicy!!! It's fried twice and less greasy than the traditional fried chicken we all grew up with. I tasted Bulgogi Rice as well, it's beef, saucy and sweet, tender and very Asian in taste. The Kimchi Coleslaw is a good side dish with Bonchon Chicken.

Pizza Hut's Chicken Salpicao

Two things best describes this dish... Delicious and worth your money! Wow this is my favorite among Pizza Hut 3-Course ₱99.00 Value Meal! The rice is perfectly cooked, it's not soggy, not the one we usually have at fast food chains. Chicken Salpicao is overly delicious! Chicken pieces which I believe is breast part is 100% tender and not overcooked, medium-cut mushrooms which is my favorite, the sauce is very savory and a bit sweet basically made from Worcestershire sauce and sprinkled with parsley. This dish costs only ₱99.00 served with a glass of drink and a choice of side (Caesar Salad, Mushroom or Cream of Chicken Soup, and Garlic Bread). A complete meal that's just right on our budget!

Chic-Boy - Inasal, Cebu Lechon Liempo and Manok

Chic-Boy

I've been hearing about Cebu Lechon lately, I'm very curious how great it taste. So when I got a chance to taste it from one of the fastest growing grill restaurant chain in the Philippines, I tried it! Cebu Lechon Liempo from Chic-Boy Restaurant, Rice-All-You-Can for the price of 99.00php and you can add a bottomless Iced Tea for 25.00php. The Liempo serving is quite a lot, ooops sorry I think I didn't capture it all :) If you have a big appetite you can full enjoy this rice all you can treat and you can finish 4-5 cups of rice with this Liempo serving, but I only had one cup of rice! The Cebu Lechon Liempo is tasty, not that tender though and taste like ordinary Liempo that you can have in other restaurants. It's an ordinary Liempo for me, it doesn't have the distinct taste that I've been looking for that you can't find in ordinary Liempo. But it's still good, in fact I leave my plate with nothing :) And the price is worth the pay!
