Spam Musubi Recipe

This is a Spam Musubi, a popular snack food in Hawaii. It is so famous that you can buy one in any convenient stores in Hawaii. Here in the Philippines, it became popular as a children's baon or kids' lunchbox meal, because it is so easy to prepare, appetizing to eyes, convenient to eat and delicious!

This was my first time to cook Spam Musubi and I have succeeded!!! It's pretty and yummy!!! And because of that, I'm sharing it to you guys!

Ingredients:
4 cups freshly cooked Steamed Rice
1 can Spam
4 pieces Dried Seaweed or Nori
2 tbsp Mirin
2 tbsp Soy Sauce
2 tbsp Sugar
1 tbsp Cooking Oil

Procedure:
1. Slice Spam into 8 equal portions.
2. Create the marinade, combine soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. Give it a good mix until the sugar is completely dissolved.
3. Fry the Spam in a non-stick pan with a little cooking oil.
4. When the Spam are nice and golden, add the marinade. When the sauce is nice and caramelized remove from heat.
5. Now we are ready to assemble. Cut the nori into three equal parts (lengthwise). Clean the can of Spam, we're going to use it as a molder.
6. Get the Spam can, line it with plastic wrap, add half cup of cooked rice, press it really well. Next is add some of the caramelized marinade to the rice, then add a layer of Spam, press it firmly, carefully pull out the plastic wrap together with the Spam rice.
7. Grab a nori, shiny side facing down, take the Spam rice and put the Spam side facing down on top of nori and fold up the sides.
8. There you have it, you'll have this beautiful and yummy Spam Musubi!

So easy right..? If you have other easy to make Spam recipes, share it with us.
