Mi Ga Jung Korean Restaurant

Korean Food Philippines

My first Korean feast is at the Mi Ga Jung Korean Restaurant located along Brgy. Holy Spirit Quezon City, near Commonwealth Avenue. I dine with my former office-mates/friends Rizzalyn and Ria. All three of us love Korean dramas or series.

The restaurant's ambiance is nice, clean and looks like they serve very good food.

Aside from the regular dining table, they also have these cute short tables and each of them has stove grillers.

With all the deliberation we ordered Yukgae Jang, Jja Jjang Myun, and Sam Gyup Sal. After we have ordered, these super cute Korean utensils and plates were served as well as this interesting tea drink. My friend Rizzalyn said that it is rice tea.

We were surprised when these "little dishes" (side dishes) were served because we didn't order them. The staff informed us that it's on the house and most Korean restaurant always serve free side dishes. Happy Happy!!!

The Korean side dishes were fantastic, Kimchi, Gaeran Mari (Stuffed Egg Omelette), Vegetable Pancake, Shigeumchi (Seasoned Spinach), and Odeng Bokkeum (Pan-fried Fishcake). My favorites were Odeng Bokkeum and Gaeran Mari aside from my all-time love Kimchi!!! You can have up to three refills of these side dishes.

First stop is Yukgae Jang, a very spicy soup Korean dish made from shredded beef, scallions, bean sprouts, celery, eggs, some glass noodles and other ingredients then served with a bowl of rice. Most Korean soup dishes were served with rice. Mi Ga Jung's Yukgae Jang costs ₱250.

Next is Jja Jjang Myun, which costs ₱200, is a noodle dish topped with a thick sauce made of salty black soybean paste, diced pork and vegetables. The noodles are thick, the sauce is so yummy, and the dish really makes you full. We saw this traditional Korean dish in many Korean Dramas like The Coffee Prince, The Greatest Love, and Scent of a Woman!

Last is Sam Gyup Sal, slices of pork belly meat which is grilled at the diners’ table. You can eat it directly or wrapped it in lettuce and sesame leaves. It has two kinds of sauces, the spicy paste and the sesame oil with salt and black pepper. Mi Ga Jung's Sam Gyup Sal costs ₱250. It is a very popular Korean dish!

All smiles after that burpie burpie and amazing dinner. We totally love the food, the service, and most of all the price because it's not that expensive and the serving is more than enough for one person :) !!!
