What is Dayap? Dayap is a small citrus fruit that is native in Southeast Asia and is also known as Key Lime. Here in the Philippines, Dayap is used as an additional flavoring or main ingredient to desserts like Leche Flan (caramel pudding or flan), Biko (sweet rice cake), Cakes, and more.
The Chocolate Kiss Cafe offers this heavenly Dayap Chiffon Cake for those who are not that fan of very sweet desserts. It's a 3-layered chiffon cake with a light dayap and caramel filling, marshmallow icing, and candied dayap rind on top. We bought a whole 9" cake for our mother's birthday because she's not so fond of very sweet cakes.
Dayap Chiffon Cake of The Chocolate Kiss Cafe is glorious, it's perfect for me because it's moist, light, the dayap caramel filling is refreshing, and because marshmallows are totally sweet I love that they put just the right amount of thickness for the frosting. Are you wondering how much does this lip-smacking cake costs? You can buy it whole or per slice, it is ₱950 for a whole 9″, ₱480 for 6″, ₱140 for a 4″ mini cake, and ₱120 per slice.
This is my favorite cake amongst the three other Chocolate Kiss Cafe cakes that I tasted which were Carrot Cake, Quezo Chiffon Cake, and Devil's Food Cake. I suggest you call them and place an order for at least a day if you want to make sure that you'll have the cake that you want, because I think they do not bake a lot to ensure the freshness of their product.
