Pendy's Napoleones and Halfmoon, Pasalubong from Bacolod City
Who doesn't love sweets..? Most Filipinos loves sweet foods, whether its desserts, cool beverage or even in entree dishes (like Pork Humba or Beef Pares). We crave for sugar!
When we travel we experience the culture, eat sumptuous and local food, and of course take home a little bit of that place. We never go home without a Pasalubong!
I have here some Pasalubong from Negros Occidental Province which is known as the Sugarbowl of the Philippines because it produces more than half of our country's sugar and its capital is Bacolod City.

Pasalubong from Quezon Province
Quezon Province has a diverse tourism offering, from their captivating beaches, colorful festivals, heritage food and recipes, and many more! I know for a fact that when we wander in new places, we tend to buy some souvenirs or pasalubong so we can take home a little bit of their culture. Here are some affordable pasalubong that you can buy when you visit the Province of Quezon.
Broas or Ladyfingers is Sariaya, Quezon's specialty. It's a sponge biscuit shaped like a large finger. This Broas from Victoria Cadiz' Bakery in Quezon Ave., Sariaya, Quezon costs ₱60 per pack.
Pinagong Bread is probably the famous pasalubong from Sariaya, Quezon. The locals sell in the streets during day time and they also ascend to some buses to vend it. Pinagong is a dense bread, it's name is supposedly comes from the word "pagong" which means turtle in English because of its shape and texture which is a bit hard outside and soft in the inside. The prominent bakeries that sells Pinagong in Sariaya were Villadiego's Bakery that sells it for ₱37 per pack and Victoria Cadiz' Bakery which is ₱38 per pack.
Shing-a-ling is a fried snack that is made from dried and fried pancit miki noodles. Based on my quick research, Shing-a-ling originated from Laguna province and invented by the Perolina Family. Nevertheless, I bought this pack of Shing-a-ling for only ₱15 at Villadiego's Bakery Pasalubong, it's very cheap in here, because this same size can be bought as high as ₱50 here in Metro Manila. Na Ide Perolina's Shing-a-ling is just delicious, crunchy, tasty, and not so salty, it is the most delicious Shing-a-ling that I have tasted so far.
There are still more pasalubong goodies and souvenirs that Quezon has to offer, like Kakanin (rice cakes) such as Budin, Suman, Sinukmani, Tikoy, Pastries like Apas, Kalibkib, Uraro, and many more!!! I hope to try them all next time!!!
Smile, eat, and relax!!!

Sunshine's Breadmart Special Biscocho from Aklan
Biscocho is a toasted bread usually topped with butter, sugar, milk, and garlic in rare cases. I really love eating Biscocho because it's sweet, I like the texture of it which is a bit crunchy and at the same time quite spongy.

Tsokolate Ah and Ensaymada

Perfect for the post-holiday season is a steaming hot cup of chocolate drink, for sweet lovers and a-less-guilt caffeine intake, and paired with less sweet bread. Hot cocoa contains antioxidants, but take it in moderation for it also contains fats and sugars. I admit, I am not well-aware of how Tsokolate Ah was processed and prepared, so I've research about it. It is done by boiling a cup of water in a tsokolateria (some kind of a pitcher saucepan), then the tablea (cacao tablets) is mixed in with milk and ground peanuts. It is whisked using a batirol (a wooden beater) until it became a creamy, foamy broth.

Sbarro's Garlic Bread
Pasta without a bread..?! Absolutely not! Red sauce, pesto or white sauce, with Bolognese or meatballs, any variation is best paired with bread, especially garlic bread! Filipino households even paired spaghetti with pandesal, toast or tasty (white bread). My father loves to deplete his plate full of sauce with his tasty :) .

Assorted Breads from The French Baker
Here good breads from The French Baker. My favorite bread from this bakeshop is Raisin Bonnet, which I had created a post four months ago. First up is French Baker's Brownies topped with chopped cashew nuts, these big and not-too-sweet goodies cost ₱37.00 each. They are different from traditional brownies because it is much bigger.

The French Baker's Raisin Bonnet
Raisin Bonnet is included in my Top 5 favorite breads from The French Baker. It's because I love raisins!!! This is my snack earlier paired with bottomless ice cold water :) and I enjoyed it! The bread texture is not soft but not that hard and it's not dry, I guess the perfect beverage pairing for this is a cup of hot chocolate or coffee. It's not a sweet bread however the sweetness of the raisins jives in.

Pastel by Megamelt Bakeshop
What do you have for snack time? Try this Pastel by Megamelt Bakeshop that costs ₱12.00. Pastel is a pastry bread which is very known in Camiguin Island in Mindanao, it's a bun filled with scrumptious and luscious Yema filling. Until now I haven't tasted the famous Pastel de Camigiun so whenever I saw a pastel bread in any bakeshop I buy and taste it.
Megamelt's version of Pastel is just fine. The bread itself is delicious, soft and fluffy however the yema filling is so little actually I haven't tasted the yema so much. It can be perfectly paired with a cup of hot coffee. I'm still on a search of a perfect Pastel for me, I hope sooner or later I can indulge myself on the delectable Pastel de Camiguin.
You guys know where can I but it here in Metro Manila?

Muhlach's Famous Ensaymada
My sister just went home with this delish pasalubong! Special ensaymada from Megamelt Bakeshop, which is owned by actor NiƱo Muchlach. It's a box of 12 ensaymada, 6 were regular Cheese Ensaymada, 3 Ube Ensaymada and 3 Macapuno Ensaymada. I don't eat ube nor macapuno, however it's my dad's favorite. Cheese ensaymada costs ₱15.00 each while ensaymada with fillings or flavors costs ₱18.00.
This is so yummy, great for merienda or as a dessert. I'm a cheese addict and it comforts me! The bread is so fluffy, moist and soft; and it's covered with cheese!!! A delectable treat for the whole family! It has lots of branches, I guess all malls in the metro has Megamelt store.
What is your ensaymada story? Share it with me and to my viewers...
